Advanced Micro Devices has established a custom-chip division, targeting applications in game consoles, high-performance computers and tablets as it tries to diversify its product line and lessen its dependence on PC chips, Agam Shah writes. The new unit's launch comes after reports that AMD is making chips for Sony's PlayStation 4. Separately, there are rumors that Intel will acquire AMD. AMD and Intel didn't comment on the report.
