Colo. middle-school science teachers plan outdoor garden, lab

Science teachers at Platt Middle School in Boulder, Colo. have crafted a long-term plan to convert an unused courtyard into an outdoor lab. Parents and teachers are raising funds to pay for garden bedding and tools and hope students will begin using the space next school year. "We haven't imagined all the different ways we could use it, but we want things in this space that will get kids thinking," teacher Ellen DeBacker said.
