Council of the EU works to reach consensus on MiFID II

The Council of the EU faces obstacles pertaining to rules on post-trade competition and dark pools in its effort to reach an agreement on the revised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive. Talks with the European Parliament and the European Commission could begin after summer break if member nations reach an agreement by mid-June. However, some are expressing doubt about the MiFID II timetable.
