DTCC files lawsuit against CFTC over client-data decision

Depository Trust & Clearing has filed a lawsuit against the Commodity Futures Trading Commission because the regulator has permitted IntercontinentalExchange and CME Group to send potentially valuable client data to their proprietary data warehouses. DTCC, which has a data warehouse, calls the CFTC's action anti-competitive. "By approving these rules, CFTC changed its original adherence to the pro-competitive principles of Dodd-Frank and instead sanctioned anticompetitive behavior that allowed these clearing houses to require reporting of cleared swap data to their captive swap data repository," according to an e-mail from DTCC General Counsel Larry Thompson.
