Epson device suggests augmented-reality devices need a clear purpose

Google is struggling to find broad consumer appeal for its Google Glass augmented-reality device, but Epson is taking a more focused approach to augmented reality, writes Ricardo Bilton. The company's Moverio BT-100 glasses, bulky as they may be, are designed specifically for worker training. As such, they are better positioned to demonstrate the real-world utility of AR, he writes.
