Europe's proposed transaction tax prompts many questions

The Irish presidency of the Council of the EU asked European nations to submit questions regarding a proposed tax on financial transactions to the European Commission. The commission then published a paper summarising questions and answers and plans to discuss concerns at a meeting. "We will be replying in detail to the issues they have raised at the next technical meeting on 22 May, and expect that we will be able to allay many of their concerns," according to the commission.
