Fluor to build ethane cracker for Dow Chemical in Texas

Dow Chemical has awarded a contract to Fluor to build a propane dehydrogenation facility and an ethane cracker at its Freeport, Texas, complex. The project is "a significant portion" of Dow's Gulf Coast investments, Fluor said. "This is a significant endeavor by Dow to process hydrocarbons from the domestic shale formations," said Peter Oosterveer, head of Fluor's energy and chemicals group.
