Gonorrhea strain could be worse than AIDS, experts warn

An aggressive strain of gonorrhea that does not respond to any currently available antibiotics could be worse than the HIV/AIDS epidemic because it can cause septic shock and death in a matter of days, according to one doctor. So far the strain, discovered two years ago, has been found in not been detected outside Japan. William Smith, executive director of the National Coalition of STD Directors, said, "This is very dangerous. It's an emergency situation."
