Impact investing combines compassion and capital

Panelists at the Milken Institute Global Conference described their experiences in impact investing, which "includes impact as an intentional part of the investment thesis," says Betsy Zeidman, a Milken Institute adjunct fellow. For example, LeapFrog invested in a company that not only provides life insurance to HIV patients in Africa, but also actively encourages them to stay on their medications. The result has been greater economic opportunities and improved health status for the company's customers.
