Renewable-energy studies in Va. get funding from Dominion

Dominion Virginia Power has provided funding for research projects on offshore wind and solar energy by experts at Christopher Newport University and Old Dominion University. The energy firm also selected ODU to join its Solar Partnership Program, which is designed to determine ways to link smaller, decentralized generation sites to its power grid. "It's relatively small installations around the state to see how they work with our grid," said Tom Kazas, a company spokesman.
