Study: 45% of Canadian cancer deaths take place in hospitals

About 45% of terminally ill cancer patients in Canada died in the hospital in 2011 and 2012, but only 8% were in an ICU, according to data from the Canadian Institute for Health Information. The report said 80% of the cases included a documented palliative care diagnosis, and palliative care was the prime reason for admission in the majority of cases.
