Treasury official will serve as FINRA's chief economist

Former Treasury Department analyst Jonathan Sokobin is joining the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority as the organization's first chief economist. Sokobin's experience also includes a stint at the SEC. "His expertise will be invaluable in ensuring that FINRA's regulations are intelligently fashioned to protect investors and maintain market integrity without imposing needless costs and burdens on investors and the industry," FINRA Chairman Richard Ketchum said.
