Some post-menopausal women may be at risk for heart disease

Women who develop abdominal fat and high cholesterol at menopause may be at higher risk of heart disease because of arterial damage, according to a study in Hypertension. Researchers at the University of Colorado at Boulder suspect the development of oxidative stress, free radicals that can damage cells in the body, may be making arteries less elastic.
