Experts are split over feeding vegetarian diets to cats

The issue on whether vegetarian diets are safe for cats has elicited opposing views among experts. Some say vegetarian diets provide the necessary nutritional supplements in cats, while others argue that the practice could lead to nutritional deficiencies and that diets that include meats are still best for felines. A 2006 JAVMA study indicated that all felines fed vegetarian foods had sufficient concentrations of vitamin B12, while most had enough taurine levels.
