AMD eyes custom chips for post-PC opportunities

Advanced Micro Devices is launching a division dedicated to the development of semi-custom processors for next-generation products and technologies. The chipmaker says it has retained hundreds of engineers to staff its new Semi-Custom Business Unit, which it says will account for a fifth of company revenues by the end of the year.
