Asian-Pacific markets largely were subdued today, with the exception of China's Shanghai Composite, which climbed 1.4% as the central bank approved measures to further open capital markets to foreign investors. In other markets, traders took cautious positions, awaiting U.S. jobs data. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index edged up 0.1%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was flat. South Korea's Kospi gained 0.4%. India's Sensex was down 0.8%. Japanese markets were closed for a holiday.
