Bee-sized flying robot taps unique power source

Conventional power sources were ruled out to make a flying robot the size of a bee. So the answer for a Harvard-developed robot of that scale is piezoelectric actuators, or strings of ceramic that expand and contract in an electric field. The result is a flying machine weighing in at less than half a gram that can hover and fly preset courses and is highly suited to mass manufacturing.
