Cross-country flight will begin for solar-powered plane

Pilots were scheduled to leave San Francisco today in an attempt to make the first flight across the U.S. using only solar power. The first leg of the journey will take the plane to Phoenix, then on to Dallas, and other points until it reaches New York in early July. The Solar Impulse plane is the first of its kind to be able to fly day and night without using any fuel, officials said.
