Dominican Republic moves to strengthen tourism industry

The Dominican Republic's tourism ministry has kicked off several programs to support its growing tourism industry, which recorded a nearly 5% rise in tourism arrivals last year. The ministry has unveiled improvement plans for the Puerto Plata tourist district and the historic Santo Domingo area. "We have a goal of 10 million tourists during the next 10 years," said Vice Minister of Tourism Radames Martinez-Aponte.
