Engineers: Crack foreshadowed Bangladesh factory collapse

Structural engineers are investigating what led to the recent collapse of a concrete building in Dhaka, Bangladesh, that killed more than 400 workers. A large crack on the seventh floor before the collapse caused engineers to warn about probable safety problems, but the warnings were ignored. Ill-advised expansion and additional load, along with construction methods and concrete quality, will be examined.
