Thomas Beller writes that he recently began to write a tweet, then deleted it before sending. In this blog post he considers the impulses that drive tweets and his doubts about the kinds of ideas that Twitter can convey. "The intense sense of meaning of this moment clashes violently with the triteness of the form into which I have packed it. Shouldn't I just send this picture to a couple of people for whom this history and context is immediately available, who will get it, feel what I felt on seeing the building, and with whom my relationship will be incrementally deepened? Isn't that the more valid human gesture?" Beller writes.
