Plastic surgeon discusses cosmetic trends

Though demand for arm-lift surgery has increased exponentially, it is not among the most popular cosmetic procedures being performed and is sought primarily by patients who have lost significant weight, says plastic surgeon Bruce Kraemer, director of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Saint Louis University Hospital. Patient and provider demographics are changing, with more patients seeking procedures after weight-loss surgery and more providers offering minimally invasive injections and other procedures, Kraemer said. Plastic surgeons are especially excited about advances in fat transfer technology, which restores lost volume in one area while contouring the body in others, he said.
