U.S., other countries stand to benefit from small reactors

The development of small modular reactors in the U.S. and in other countries will help expand the benefits nuclear energy has to offer, writes C.T. Carley, professor emeritus of mechanical engineering at Mississippi State University. Such reactors are safe and require less water for cooling than larger ones do, Carley writes.
