Why graduate assistant work may not help in a job search

Masters graduates seeking employment in student affairs must make sure their work as graduate assistants qualify as "professional experience," consultant Eric Stoller writes in this blog post. Stoller recounts how a friend applied for a job, only to find his GA experience did not count. "[C]heck what 'professional' experience means with each and every HR department for every single job for which you are applying," Stoller advises.
