Reel push mowers back in fashion as green alternative

The American Lawn Mower Co. is the only U.S. manufacturer of reel push mowers, which have seen a comeback as a green alternative to gas-powered mowers. The factory in Shelbyville, Ind., produces 400 mowers a day under the American, Great States, Scotts and Craftsman labels. The mowers retail for around $100 and are made with lightweight metal and plastic instead of the original cast-iron design.
