CPOE could help reduce hospital mortality rates

A study in Pediatrics found a 20% drop in mortality rates in Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif., 18 months after adopting a computerized physician order-entry system. The researchers said the results were encouraging but do not suggest a causal link.
