Nextel expands Direct Connect abroad

Nextel Communications yesterday announced that subscribers will be able to use its Direct Connect walkie-talkie service and e-mail between the U.S. and Canada, Brazil, Argentina and Peru. International Direct Connect subscribers will not have to replace their handsets, but they will be subject to higher fees for international calls.
