CMS to strip website of data on hospital-acquired conditions

The CMS wants to overhaul its Hospital Compare website, removing data pertaining to eight hospital-acquired conditions. The agency said it will develop a new set of metrics because some are redundant and an advisory panel recommended use of other indicators. Some observers have expressed concern that the move decreases transparency regarding dangerous errors.
