Experts discuss challenges to implementing PERCIST

The PET Response Criteria in Solid Tumors guidelines, which aim to clarify and standardize PET acquisition parameters, were published in May 2009 in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine, but barriers to adoption remain. One challenge is the lack of software that is compatible with PERCIST, said Dr. Dominique Delbeke, past president of SNMMI. There is also a need to make PET providers more familiar with the guidelines, said Dr. Wolfgang Weber, chief of molecular imaging and therapy at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
