$2.2B worth of transmission line projects planned in Ill.

Ameren Corp. plans to spend $2.2 billion on transmission-line projects in Illinois between now and the end of 2017. One project, already approved by the Midwest Independent System Operator, is worth $1.1 billion and would improve reliability of electricity across the state, according to the company. That project still needs a certificate from the Illinois Commerce Commission, but Ameren expects to start construction on it next year.
