ACCCE: EPA regulations to close power plants in 32 states

A set of rules proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency is a major factor in the expected shutdown of more than 280 coal-fired plants in 32 states, according to the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, an industry group. The number of affected units is five times more than the original estimate, ACCCE said. "EPA continues to downplay the damage its regulations are causing to the U.S. economy and to the many states that depend on coal for jobs and affordable electricity," said ACCCE President and CEO Mike Duncan.
