After Newtown, firms offer armored school equipment

The Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut has led a number of companies to offer schools and parents products such as bulletproof whiteboards and armored backpacks. School security consultants are skeptical, noting that there's little cash available for expensive armor and other measures. "The vendors may be opportunistic, but the people on the purchasing end aren't thinking it through, either," says Kenneth Trump, a consultant on school safety.
