Apple's new App Store rejections make fine distinctions

Apple is going beyond its early rejection of applications that replicate functionality by going after apps that mimic App Store search and social sharing recommendations, Darrell Etherington writes. A developer has offered its App Store rejection over issues not spelled out in Apple's guidelines, including "filtering, bookmarking, searching or sharing recommendations" similarity. "It's true that maintaining an affiliate network helps Apple drive app sales, but it has to be very careful that that network stays fair of consumer expectations," Etherington writes.
