House farm bill is expected next week

A new farm bill will be introduced for markup on May 15, said House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, R-Okla. He said the bill would reduce spending by $38 billion over 10 years, $20 billion of which would be budget cuts for food and nutrition programs. The Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee is also expected to develop a farm bill.
