Hungry shoppers choose more high-calorie foods in study

A study in JAMA Internal Medicine found people who were hungry prior to grocery shopping bought more high-calorie items compared with those who ate snacks before shopping. Researchers said the results may have implications for people who cannot always afford food, as food insecurity may trigger individuals to settle for higher-calorie items, especially if they are cheap.
