Levin, Inhofe to Hagel: Spell out sequester impact

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin, D-Mich., and Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., want Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel to hand them a list of $52 billion in proposed Pentagon cuts by July 1, a move they say is key to stopping sequestration. They said they know it won't be easy to do. "In our view, however, a concrete demonstration of the painful choices the Department would have to make to cut $52 billion from its budget may be our last, best hope of avoiding sequestration altogether," they wrote in a letter to Hagel last week.
