Obama is urged to open more areas to offshore energy development

A coalition of coastal state governors is urging the Obama administration to open more areas to offshore oil and natural gas drilling. Because states have both the experience in drilling oversight and the necessary resources, they should have a larger share of offshore energy royalties, the governors said. "We want to open up leasing agreements. Give us the opportunity. Give us the chance," said South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
