Obama's options in Syria are limited by "red line" pledge

President Barack Obama told reporters this weekend that he does not anticipate "American boots on the ground in Syria," despite growing evidence that chemical weapons have been used in the region and an assertion by Syria that Israel airstrikes constitute a declaration of war. Obama had warned that the use of chemical weapons was a "red line" that would draw a U.S. response if crossed. "President Obama now finds himself in a geopolitical box, his credibility at stake with frustratingly few good options," The New York Times reported Saturday.
