Rail companies seek reversal of class-action certification

Freight rail companies are seeking the reversal of a court order that certified a class in a case involving allegations of antitrust violations. The companies said that the certification conflicts with Supreme Court rulings and that they might have to settle if the case is allowed to go forward. Meanwhile, Stephen Neuwirth, the plaintiffs' lead counsel, said public filings by the rail companies show that the case wasn't expected to have a devastating impact on them.
