Why flat designs are here to stay

Web designers are turning their backs on gradients and drop shadows, and building "flat" websites, writes Kendra Gaines. They're doing so not just for aesthetic reasons, but also because flat designs are more user-friendly. "It makes sense. It promotes a clean user interface that's easy to use and understand," Gaines writes.
