China considers plan to require more renewable power in grid

China's government is floating a new proposal that may require grid operators to transmit up to 15% renewable power, according to a report in the newspaper China Securities Journal. The plan may benefit wind power producers, who see up to 30% of their output go to waste because of curtailment policies by grid operators, analysts said. "This will discourage grid companies from wasting wind power," said Simon Lee, an analyst at Morgan Stanley.
