7 providers to implement telehealth robot

Seven health systems and medical centers in the U.S. and Mexico, including Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Calif., and The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, will begin using iRobot's telemedicine robot, called Remote Presence Virtual + Independent Telemedicine Assistant, or RP-VITA. The telehealth platform, the first telemedicine robot to receive clearance from the FDA, uses AutoDrive technology to enable doctors to remotely command a clinical environment without staff assistance or on-site setup.
