City to test gas from human waste as vehicle fuel

Compressed natural gas generated from human waste will soon be powering a city vehicle in Topeka, Kan., with help and guidance from six engineering students at Kansas State University. Currently, a city wastewater treatment plant is releasing 80% of the methane it generates into the atmosphere, an amount that city officials believe could provide as much as 1,200 gallons of motor fuel daily.
