DIRECTV boosts revenue, earnings in Q1

DIRECTV grew U.S. revenues at 5.3% and operating profits rose 7.4% in the first quarter as the satellite provider surpassed analysts' projections. Net U.S. subscribers increased by 21,000 as the company implemented its strategy of focusing on "high quality" customers who are less likely to churn and more likely to buy premium services.
