Health system sees value from telemedicine effort

Telemedicine is gaining momentum in health care and some in the industry are starting to reap gains from the technology. Speaking at a conference in Texas, the CEO of Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy, Lynn Britton, highlighted some of the scenarios in which telemedicine is transforming care delivery across the health system's rural and urban facilities. Thanks to its $90 million Virtual Care Center, the health system saw reduced patient admissions and cut the length of stays at its ICUs by 30%, he said.
