Ill. school district sees jump in eighth-graders taking geometry

More eighth-grade students from Park Junior High School in Illinois are taking geometry at a local high school because of a concerted effort to identify elementary-school students who could be successful in an accelerated math program. Students identified in fifth grade are encouraged to participate in a program that includes a summer session to help them get ready for algebra I in seventh grade and honors geometry at the high school a year later.
