Manufacturers help support high-school students in mechatronics

Students in grade 11 at Oakland High School in Tennessee will begin a pilot program this fall in mechatronics, a combination of mechanical, electrical and computerized technologies used in manufacturing. The program, supported by the Murfreesboro Manufacturing Council and taught at a local Bridgestone lab, will result in the students earning 16 hours of college credit and first-level certification in a field seeing a rising demand for skilled workers.
