Medical directors focus more on quality, survey shows

A survey of medical directors from 142 single-specialty practices and 97 multispecialty groups found 40% have duties that include monitoring quality metrics. Todd Evenson of the Medical Group Management Association, which conducted the survey, said medical directors in the past worked on patient flow and efficiency but the new health care environment requires a focus on value and clinical quality.
