N.C. city manager proposes first property-tax hike in 7 years

Charlotte, N.C., City Manager Ron Carlee has presented a budget proposal that includes a 7.25% property-tax increase, which would be the first since 2006 and the third in the past 25 years. The additional revenue would go toward an $816 million capital-improvement plan that includes road and sidewalk repairs, infrastructure projects and renovations to the Bojangles Coliseum.
