Nurse communication can boost hospital performance on VBP programs

An analysis of data from more than 3,000 U.S. hospitals found that better communication between nurses and patients could affect 15% of hospitals' value-based purchasing incentive payments. Improvements in nurse communication were linked to higher scores in pain management, communication on medication, patient experience and staff responsiveness, the report from Press Ganey Associates said.
